Hello lovely maker friends!
Have you worked with the moss stitch yet?!
This is the perfect pattern to practice a new stitch!
The moss stitch is my favorite stitch to use as a cup hug. It has some bouncy stretch to it so it will fit over a large mason jar or tumbler.
If you're like me and can't stand to throw away those left over yarn scraps this is the perfect project. They look great worked up in any color or variegated yarn, and even cuter with felties!
Felties are the perfect way to personalize your cup hugs and give as gifts. I purchased these handmade felties from Trish Tac Toe on Etsy. She has a great selection and the quality is amazing!
You can find her felties here https://www.etsy.com/shop/TrishTacSew
So let's get started!
Here is what you need to complete your cup hug:
Worsted weight scrap yarn
4.5mm crochet hook
Hot glue gun & glue
Cup Hug Pattern
Ch16, sc in 4th ch from hook.
*ch1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch* repeat until end of the chain.
ch 2, turn, *sc next ch space, ch1*
Repeat until you have reached 40 rows or it measures 9” long.
Fasten off and leave long tail to sew each end together.
Sew the ends together and sew in the tails of yarn.
Now let's add the felties!
Take your scrap paper and slide it in your cup hug. This will prevent the hot glue from sinking into your stitches and fusing the cup hug together.
Next add a good amount of the hot glue to the back of the feltie.
Place it on your cup hug and squish it into the stitches.
Let it dry for a minute and remove the paper.
You just made a super cute cup hug!!
Happy dance time!
